Hi, I'm Tracy!
I've been married to my husband since 2004 and have two awesome kids whom I love more than life.
I'm a follower of Jesus. I hope that He will use me in whatever I do.
I have a Bachelor of Music Degree from University of Michigan in Voice Performance (aka opera) and have been known to burst into song during a session (not usually an opera aria... though I could be bribed to do so. haha!).
I LOVE horseback riding, though I don't get to do it too often. My first job was cleaning horse stalls at a big horse farm. I loved it! No flipping burgers for this girl!
I LOVE being outside, surrounded by God's beautiful creation. Put me in a big open field, in the woods or on the beach, and I'm a happy girl!
I am a self-taught photographer (unless you count the one semester of black and white film photography that I took in college). Since the fall of 2009 I have devoured every resource about portrait photography that I could get my hands on. When I'm asked how I got started making portraits for people, my answer is always, "my son." I've loved photography for as long as I can remember... whenever we would go on vacation to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, I'd have my trusty 110mm camera in hand to take pictures of the Lake Superior shore line, or wherever we were. That continued on into adulthood with my first film SLR camera. I LOVED getting a shot of beautiful scene, a gorgeous flower, a cool building...and I totally thought that people ruined my pictures! They got in the way of the beautiful beach or the cool building! I had the chance to study opera in Italy for one term, and I remember being so frustrated that there were so many people in the Square in front of St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican...because I just wanted the cool architecture, and they were in my way!!! The nerve! So then... I had my son. Suddenly, taking pictures of the cat and flowers were much less important than taking pictures of this perfect little boy. I started having fun trying to get "cute" pictures of him and friends started saying, "You need to do this. I want you to take pictures of my kids!" So I thought, well, why not? I love it, I'll give it a try. And I did, and I loved it! I've learned so much over the last few years, and I am so grateful that God, through the encouragement of my friends, dropped this opportunity and passion into my lap. I'd made the decision not to pursue a career in opera due to the amount of travel it demands... I wanted to have a family and actually get to be with them... not have someone else raising my kids because I was off performing. In photography, God gave me a gift of being able to have a creative outlet, that not only satisfies my artistic side, but that also helps to feed my kids and pay for school! I'm so blessed. And I am more passionate about my photography than I ever was about singing. It's amazing how things work out!
I would LOVE to capture your family's special moments and to get to be a part of your life. I love that I get to work with such fun and awesome people that by the end of a session, I feel like I'm more friends with my clients than anything else. Professional Photography is a luxury, not a necessity... but I love that I get to give my clients memories that will be cherished for generations. I love that my newborn clients will be able to look back and see how tiny and precious their child was and how they've grown. I love that I can capture a moment of joy on a toddler's face...the interaction between young siblings, the hallmark of a high school senior's last year of high school... all of these things are moments and memories that will last.
So that is me. That is why I do what I do, and why I love it so much!
Please don't hesitate to get in touch with me if you have any questions, or if you'd like to book! I can promise that we'll have fun!
